Does anyone know why people called Andrew are sometimes nicknamed Freddie? Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff is one, and I know of another.

Two different but simlair sources as to why the "Freddie" Flintoff nickname
(1) Flintoff was first nicknamed Fred or Freddie by John Stanworth, the captain of Lancashire's second XI, when he was a teenager because his name was similar to Fred Flinstone. (this I think is the real resason - but some sources say )
2) He picked up the nickname, "Freddie" or "Fred" due to perceived similarities with Fred Flintstone.

I don't think the 'Andrew' frst name is conneceted to hs nickname
Who is the other Andrew?
I don't think there's any link between the two names; Flintoff got his as Fibonacci says. If the other one has the surname Flintburger or Flintwick or something, that would explain him too.
Perhaps the other Andrew's surname was Kruger, either way we should be telt...
