I've been invited to 3 weddings in August, all of which I intend to go to. I am fine with 2 of them as I am bridesmaid for one so know the couple really well (well, you'd hope so really!) and the other one has a reply slip. The thrid however much more traditional, I've been invited by the brides parents whom i have never met... should i just say something along the lines of "I am writing to confirm that I will be attending......"?
The old-fashioned, formal way was to write - in letter, not card, format - a message along these lines...
Miss Carol Green thanks Mr and Mrs R.Jones for their kind invitation to their daughter, Christine's wedding in Colchester Cathedral at 3 pm on Friday 15h July and has much pleasure in accepting.
If you think they're that formal, you can now show them that you can be just as formal, too!
No need Carol....most cards are pre-printed with :
i.e. --------------------------- (put your name(s) in
---------------------------(on the [date]
---------------------------(for the occasion off
etc etc.
Seems funny if you got an official invite - when your gonna be a bridesmaid!?! LOL :-))
anyhow, just fill in the blanks on said cards....
Hope you enjoy all 3!!!
P.S. If you are not meeting anyone from the 2 where you will be a guest - might get away with same outfit!!
Of course, there is no need' to reply to a formal invitation with a formal acceptance, but it shows a bit of class' if you do.
As you seem to like the idea, Carol, I would add that it should be hand-written, preferably in ink rather than biro, not typed or printed. All you need to write is the message as provided earlier...no need for date, addresses or signature...on a small sheet of quality paper with a matching envelope. Practice a couple of times, so that your message is centrally placed on the page.
All very old-fashioned, perhaps, but it certainly looks good. Plus, they won't forget you're coming, when they see that you've gone to a bit of trouble rather than just filling in a template.
Have a great day, whatever you decide, ma'am!
