Do any ABers get ignored for being discourteous?

I know that it has been quite an emotive subject (looking at previous posts), but do fellow ABers ever disregard questions posed by people who never acknowledge their replys? Case in point: last evening someone posted numerous questions on various sites all separate entries (something which I know is not practical), and on looking this morn has not thanked or starred any. This said person is not like myself a greenie so should know better.

No, that would just be childish.

The

I don't always acknowledge and rarely star people, I access t'internet from work and is not always practical to go back and rate sometmes I have a few minutes to glance at an answer then disappear again.

However, if I know i will be out of the office a lot I usually thank in advance when posting the question.

To be quite honest I don't usually notice who has asked the question or if I've been rated or thanked.

So I wouldn't know if anyone was being rude in any way.

I don't disregard them, because I've usually forgotten who I've replied to. If I've posted a question, I either try to rate or, like natalie, thank in advance.

However, it would be nice if people at least acknowledged that someone has given time & thought to answering their questions.

Not really - I rarely notice who has asked the question anyway.

I do tend to disregard questions that are so badly written/spelt that it's difficult to make out what they are asking.

No, it's a question and answer site, rather than a chat site, and I contribute many more answers than questions so I dont think it is rude at all

Thankyou for all your replies.

I was curious/interested to know the answers of the questions posed, whether I answered correctly or to the ones I didn't manage to solve to see the replies given. It was just an observation that of all the postings by this particular ABer (and there were quite a few) none were thanked.

Anyhow, if you don't revisit the site where you offered an answer - then I guess you will not be reading this!! LOL

;-}

Unfortunately, there are people in this world who do not say 'please' & thank you' - I know I've met enough of them in my time!

It's nice to acknowledge people who have gone out of their way to help you, but not everyone's the same.

A short "thank you for all your replies" is a nice gesture!

i don't really see where you are coming from ... is there some board ettiquette i didn't know about meaning you have to thank people for answering your question? I would have thought it would be discretionary and while i agree to an extent with your "wouldn't it be nice if everyone was nice" sentiment i think the people who regularly answer peoples questions get their own reward by that smug feeling you get when you know something someone else dosent, or by having a chance to flaunt superior knowledge. I have to say i never expect thanks or even aknowledgement for answers provided, in the same way i wouldn't thank google for answering a question for me
It does irritate me when I've put forward a possible answer and they dont tell me if I'm right. But we cant be too hasty in getting annoyed with these people. some of them only know how to ask a question and not reply to their own post. :-)
Sorry I agree with kazza, why should you expect any P's (please) or Q's (thank Q)?

If they are given then it's a nice afterthought, but you shouldn't really expect it, otherwise you will trudge through life being very disappointed.

And 4getmenot, if you were more like me you would know that you are always right and don't need reassurance... :o)
I certainly wouldn't trudge thro' life being disappointed if I didn't get a thank you - it's just nice to acknowledge people who have bothered to assist & to know whether the replies were useful - that's all.
Sometimes I ask a question late at night before going to bed. I don't return to AB until the following evening when I'm in from work - so don't read any replies until then. It may, therefore, look like I haven't acknowledged people's answers but the truth is I've not been around to do so. I don't get offended when people don't say thank you, although If I've had helpful answers I usually try and post a thank you back.
Yeah, there is that to it Dollie.Hope you've had a good day.

hi

Sorry - last post cut me off without a shilling ! Meant to say Hi Smudge - good day - lovely weather - hope you are feeling a bit better now. Doll xx
