My wife and I are very soon retiring and moving from London to the South West.

We have looked at many places and to date Salisbury is favourite.

Within the next couple of months we are going to spend a week or two in the area to "get a feel" for the place.

Would anyone be able to give a few tips aboul living in Salisbury, what it is realy like.

Any information will be apreciated.

Hi there, salisbury is indeed a beautiful city with a magnificent cathedral (highest spire inEngland) and magic mushrooms growing near the west wing. The only problem is that in the evenings the town centre is full of soldiers. Have a look at the outskirts Old Sarum or even Bulford Village

Thanks for your reply madjack . On our next visit we will certainly look at your suggestions.

Don't think soldiers would be a problem, we are not realy town centre people in the evenings, more of the country pub type.

I do like the idea of the majic mushrooms though.

Thanks again.
