why is the dominican republic so cheap when compared with other islands? 14 night All Inclusive for 550 in august in a four star. is there something wrong with the dominican republic? is it cheap and tacky and built up or is it beautiful and idyllic??

We went about four years ago and it was great , we stayed near puerto plata on an all inclusive but beware of the aids thing if it applies to you as they say it is not a problem but stats show different . You must go snorkelling and take some bread for the fish to suck from your hand Enjoy we did

Dom Rep is definately a cheap carribean holiday. The sand is not white & the sea is not turquise. However, the climate is no different from Barbados Jamaica etc. If you go with this in mind you will not be dissapointed. When I went (Jan 02) my girlfriend and I had a great time. However would not go back unless I was skint!!
