I'm trying to trace the place where Walter Henry Bonham Carter died. He was born on 11/08/1866 in Paddington, Middlesex, and attended Winchester College in Hampshire at the age of 14. I think he went on to become a solicitor. I also believe he died in 1947 in a car accident. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I expect you have found this information:

NAME: Bonham Carter Walter Henry

BIRTH/BAPTISM: 11/08/1866

DEATH/BURIAL:

FATHER: Henry Bonham Carter

MOTHER: Sibella Charlotte Norman

MARRIAGES: 21/04/1898 Anita Florence Heuer

CHILDREN: David William

NOTES:

WC[369]

Solicitor 1890 practising at 4 Regents Street SW, [Messrs Thorold, Brodie & Bonham Carter.]

Secretary of the Nightingale Fund.

From this site:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thela mp/List%20of%20People%20for%20The%20NIGHTINGAL E%20FAMILY%20TREE.htm#Bonham%20Carter%20Walter %20Henry

But there are two leads - the name of the solicitors and the Nightingale Fund.

I also found this:

WALTER HENRY BONHAM CARTER b 11 AUG 1866 Paddington, Middlesex, d 9 Apr 1947 Died as result of a car accident, In 1881, attending Winchester College, Hampshire

From http://www.geocities.com/layedwyer/smith.htm

Hope that helps a bit!

Ethel, thanks for your interest in my question, I do really need to find the actual place where he died, that is proving very difficult, thanks again for your help, best wishes EddieIOW.
Have you ordered a copy of the death certificate? That should tell you where he died.

Hi, I need to know where he died so I can obtain a death certificate, the records office have requested that information thats my main problem. Thanks for looking, Regards EddieIOW
Eddie - where he died may not be the place where the death was registered.

For that you need to know where he was living at the time of his death.

Try contacting the office where he practiced as a solicitor, the Law Society and also try the newspapers in the days immediately following his death.

My guess is there would have been an obituary in The Times but the details of the accident may have been reported in other papers.

Hi again Ethel, thanks, I will do a search of the Times obituary around that time. Also, my cousin is going to the Kew Records Office on Friday, to see what she can find for me. Will let you know through these posts how I get on.
