Everyone has a claim to fame - no matter how small or big, so whats yours? Mine is that I lived opposite Rod Stewarts sister when I was grwoing up (my parents still live there) and Rod used to park his car in our drive when he came to see her. Anyone else got any claims??

Well I meet the guy that play Lovejoy's side kick in Lovejoy up London about a month ago. Can't think of his characters name...
i pinched Hugh Grant's bum in a bar!
My Dad opened the first McDonalds in the UK, when he was Mayor of Greenwich '73/'74 and my Mum started the first London Marathon (ie waved the start flag) when she was Mayor in '80/'81. Personally, I am a failure and have done nothing famous!!!
This is really only a family and friends thing - my hubby was part of the support crew on the prototype Concorde, and on a flight from Liberia, West Africa to Fairford,Glos had to repair the sink in the toilet - at Mach 2!!
My mother is Godmother to Jackie Trent, who wrote the lyrics to 'Neighbours' and was a chart-topping pop star in the 1960's. My eldest daughter had a date with (pre-Take That) Robbie Williams and binned him off for being an idiot, and I've turned down the chance of a late night curry with Linda Lusardi because I'd promised to bring my wife a takeaway home, and when I got back, she (my wife that is) was asleep, so I could have gone out with lucious Linda anyway!
I once sat across the aisle from Liza Minelli flying on concorde from New York to London but my mate went for a smoke with her in the lounge at JFK (I had given up for over a year at that time - dammit!).

PS Cetti, tell your hubby that the sink still works great ;-)
My claim to fames in order of sad-ability: Was driving down Sunset Boulevard after midnight in August 1995 at the time Hugh Grant was caught with the hooker (we didn't know it was him at time of course); have seen Kate Moss & George Hamilton (he of perma-tan fame!) at US airports; went to school with Scott Mills; Rozalla (you're prob too young to remember, but she was a one-hit wonder in 1991/2 with 'Everybody's Free') was a cousin of my former boyfriend.
I chatted to Tracey Shaw in a restaurant and got her to sign two napkins (one for me, one for my bro-in-law who was at our table and got her to put "To Garry love Tracey (you're much better looking than that other lad" on mine).

A group of us (families) were camping and spotted Bobby Knutt in a pub in Rosedale, I mentioned that I'd seen him on stage in 1991 and he took the time to chat to our bunch for ten minutes (even though he was with a table full of friends). For a double-whammy his wife is also famous (a sports personality whose name escapes me, sorry Mrs. Knutt!)

My daughter went on stage with Linda Lusardi in panto and we had a little chat with her, (you're right Andy, she is luscious!) There are loads of these sort of links, most of which I've forgotten, but I suppose the most tenuous one that I can remember (which I think is what your question is looking for) is that I once built not one, but two fireplaces for Chris Rea's brother in Middlesbrough.

This has given me an idea for another question...

Thanks rekstout - I will :-))
Two years ago, we were playing snooker at Butlins Skegness when Johnny Ball appeared with a camera crew.

He asked could he take a few shots for the Holiday show.

After spending about 10 minutes on our table, he got his wallet out and asked how much it cost to play. When I told him it was a tenner for an hour's play he coughed and spluttered a bit then sneaked it back into his pocket!

Another one from me is that when I was younger I was in a theatre group with loads of other kids and one of those was the comedian Dave Allen's daughter - so he came to see her in the show and I was the main part, so he saw more of me! Although in his eyes, no one would have been better than his daughter. Thanks to everyone for all your answers - makes good reading!!
Just rememberd some more tenuous links... My dad was in the same class as Brian Clough and I was in the same class as Brian's nephew, and Jack Charlton's son used to do judo at the same judo club as me. Oh, and my sister's next door neighbour used to be the sister of that girl who appeared in "Men Behaving Badly" (the episode where they have the barbeque and set the fence and shed on fire). She's the one that he drops over the garden fence!
When i worked at mcdonalds(whilst doing my A-levels) I served the Southamton Football team, and Philip Schofield!. I also planted a tree as a kid on blue Peter.
Last year, whilst in Hong Kong, I sat next to Jackie Chan in a restaurant having lunch at the Clearwater Bay Golf Club!
I thought this section was supposed to be about famous people! Some of these contributions - you REALLY need to get out more!
My girlfriends Mum dated David Bowie when they were at school . Or put another way, my girlfriend could potentially be David Bowie secret love child (There would need to be some strange biological things going on).
I played the piano at a reception that Prince Phillip attended at the Univ of Greenwich last summer. He didn't come over to tell me to clear off so I must have been ok :)
well i've met shane ritchie playing football with john leslie (and catherine was watching) and chris quentin at a celeb match. I gave mariella frostrop a light at maidstone station once. my dad had a drink with oliver reed a few times and he went out with hazel dean before he met my mum. my bloke had a wee in a urinal next to brian may recently. he has also been a dj at the grundy/pearson xmas party where i danced with toadie (neighbours) spotted nigel havers, les and amanda, cast of the bill (the worst behaved) etc he also was dj at one of ainsley harriot's "party of a lifetime" shows too best of all i have kissed robbie williams (and the rest of take that) when i was 12 and they sang at my school. i still have the autographs. that's about it really!!!
1.My first brush with fame was at the launch of the Vauxhall Chevette (that dates me!) at the garage where my Dad worked where I met Brian Cant from PlaySchool. 2. Also as a youngster, I shook hands with King Hussein of Jordan, who was guest of honour at an Air Fair in Biggin Hill in Kent. 3. As a teenager, I served Billy Bonds (West Ham footballer) and Brain Jacks (judo / Superstars) while working in my local Safeway. 4. Met loads of rock stars as a freelance writer - Lemmy from Motorhead was a cracker! 5. In Cambridge last Christmas, held a shop door open for actor/panto queen Christopher Biggins!
I played guitar in front of over 1000 adoring fans at Olympia in London despite never having played before. We were auctioning a red inflatable guitar, which had been signed by John Otway and his band. (He reached number 9 in the charts with Bunsen Burner a couple of months later) While I 'demonstrated' it, Otway's guitarist Richard Holgarth played from backstage. That's the nearest I'll ever come to being a famous musician.
