high school grades/secondary school years

what is the difference between american high school grades and english secondary school years? for example, if someone was in year 10 in english secondary school (aged 14/15) what grade would that be in american high school?

There is a 1 year/grade difference.

e.g. age 14/15 = UK Year 10 & US 9th Grade

and is 1st form like year 7?
