Anyone know if any of these still exist? I'd love one more sit on one for old times sake! And apologies to any pedants who may consider this to be the wrong category but I couldn't think of a better one.

You may not find this too helpful, but if you're ever in Venice (Italy, not California), the St Mark's Square souvenir shops and stalls sell a vast range of weird hats, including Witch's conical hats.

OK, probably didn't make myself very clear. I was referring to the playground apparatus that was shaped like a witch's hat. May have been called something else in other parts of the country.
They were brilliant, weren't they? They conjur up being a kid in the 70s to me. The bigger kids climbing really high up and dangling off the struts. They were stupidly dangerous and great fun. I never actually saw anyone get hurt though, but potentially, they were lethal, which is why I suspect they got banned.

Ah childhood... (Drifts off into misty-eyed reverie about how it were so much tougher (but better) 'when I were a lad' and how kids today have got it easy before realising what an old git he sounds like, and anyway, he's a white, middle class southerner...)
They were great fun! I was playing on one with my brother as a child and he was sitting on the 'rim' with his legs facing inwards and it swung down and he hit his knees on the centre pole, both his kneecaps were black for weeks. I cried laughing. We both still loved playing on it after though.
