I think I've just accidently found my surprise birthday present while doing the house cleaning. Question is do I say nothing to my partner and just act surprised when I recieve it on my birthday or should I let her know that I accidently found it or should I act surprised and tell her that I had found it at a later date? What would you do in my shoes OR what would you prefer me to do if you were her?

i would hang on just incase it isn't actually for you mate.
wot is it?
sorry bout that no to answer the question i would want you to act suprised and not tell me you had found it at a later date.
Don't say anything. Not now, not ever.
Good point, Dot. :->

What would it accomplish by telling her? I wouldn't want the surprise element to be the measure by which I value the gift.

If that had happened to me, I wouldn't tell my husband, now/after/ever. Whatever the gift, I know it gave him pleasure to find it, buy it, hide it, and it will tickle him to watch me open it. I don't want to deprive him of that. No gift (short of a household appliance) is worth making him feel that he didn't hide it well enough.

you can't tell her you found it not ever. Act surprised and be grateful. You will be even more surprised if she doesn't give you it for your birthday and it wasn't meant for you, maybe then you could ask, just incase she has a knock off you don't know about!! Sorry, i'm joking. Just act surprised and don't tell her
depends whether you found it accidentally 'on purpose'!
I have done this before - I found my xmas present - and I had to act all surprised on the day.I would never let on that I knew weeks before what it was!
If I were you, I'd keep quiet until I actually received it. And of course, act surprised when/if you do.

Nobody likes spoilt surprises.
