Robert Plant Led Zeppelin
3 Answers
When recording an album for Led Zeppelin, did Robert record vocals for a track in one take or were a number of takes cut and edited together? Curious as when singing Black Dog or any other high note songs in all the live versions I have for instance, he is rarely able to reach the high notes after the first few lines even in the early days.

A lot of production goes into it and layers of sound and backing tracks are added. Led Zep were no exception and that is why most of the groups in the 70s and 80s sounded very different live as they did not have the technology available now to layer sounds even in a live performance (so dont get surprised if in a Oasis concert you hear a clarinet when there is no player on stage...its all a recording being played back)
