When we were at Blackpool last month, there were a lot of women from Glasgow staying at our hotel. One evening the barman remarked to my husband that he thought that all women in Glasgow must go to the same barber, as so many of them had the same little short back and sides haircut , worn with the obligatory hoop (bingo) earrings. I had to chuckle as I realised he was right enough! Come to Glasgow and you will see this style being sported by about every third woman from late thirties upward. I wonder are there any other styles or 'looks' unique to any other town or city, where if you were away from home you would recognise them instantly?
I am always able to spot women who come from Salford, Manchester, they are usually about 16 years old and have a young sprog called Chantelle-Demi, or Paige, in an old buggy, chomping on a cold sausage roll from Greggs the baker!
