I work for a charity shop, and today we recieved a copy of Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince. It is a hardback copy and it would seem that it is limited edition, as there is no paper cover to protect it, and the pages are gold on the edges, the book has also been signed by JK Rowling (this has been printed on all of these copies) but I would like to know. Finally it also is in it's orginal clear plastic wrapping. How much do you think it is worth if it was on sale in a normal book shop? The RRP is 30, could we make more than this? Would we make more money selling it on eBay and just giving the money that way?

If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask, as we need a proper pricing on it to make money for British Heart Foundation.

Thanks in advance.

Harry Potter isn't my area, but if you put it on eBay you could risk losing a lot of money if you don't know what reserve to set. Personally I would sit on it till there's a specialist book sale at an auctioneers in your area and then ask the auctioneer (as he gets commission he has a vested interest in getting you the best possible price). Hope you get the price you want. A slightly cynical ploy, as an afterthought (I'm in the antiques trade), is taking it to a secondhand book dealer and seeing what he offers you for it - dealers normally offer you about a third of what they can sell it for. Good luck!
