Go here:
http://www.landregistry.co.uk/houseprices/
Under 'individual property information', enter the postcode.
Clicking 'Go' will bring up a list of all properties with that postcode. Look for the relevant address.
Next to 'Price Paid Data', you'll see 'Yes' or 'No'. (I would expect this to be 'Yes' because the Land Registry started recording price data on 01/01/95).
Assuming that you see 'Yes', click on 'Information available'.
Then purchase the title register. It'll cost you 3 but, if it'll save you thousands of pounds, that seems like a good investment to me ;-)

Hi, I looked at that and it said there was no relevant information, so I ended up just ringing an estate agent in the area and asking them!! THey gave me the price of houses sold in that street in97 and the houses actually made more profit than she is asking for so I guess we will just give her what she is asking for and consider ourselves lucky!!
Thanks a million for your help anyway!!
