Does anybody know what 'L' plates they have in Spain and France? For learner drivers, obviously. Is the 'L' plate internationally recognised, or do other countries have their own?

I'm almost certain that nobody is allowed to teach driving on public roads in France unless they are a licensed professional teacher. The French license most other things that might be dangerous ( even estate agents).I live here a lot and have not noticed anyone being supervised as a learner otherwise than by a school. The 'A' plate itself is to be displayed after the candidate has got a full licence and may drive alone; it is shown for some months and there are restrictions on where and how the novice can drive.
