Is it my imagination, or are pikeys (the Argos gold, six kids, tats on display, Croydon face lift type) proliferating? They, and their horrible kids, seem to be everywhere.

Be careful with the P word..... as 'Irish Travellers' are a seperate 'race', the P word is treated in the same way as other derogatory terms for people of a certain race.

Chatham, Dartford (Dartford must be the ugly woman epi-centre of the UK), everywhere, even here in Royal Tunbridge Wells they are everywhere - I'm convinced there is a pikey gene whereby they only have to be in the presence of another pikey to become pregnant, and so the cycle begins again..........

darth: tats = tattoos. Presumably on display to show 'ow f*****g 'ard the owners are. Don't know about Q2 - first time I heard it was in that context "Snatch". As for the original Q: yes they are.

ive grown up in an area full of irish travellers. They've always been known as 'pikeys' round here but as cupra says you wouldnt call them that just like you wouldnt say 'paki' or something. You call them travellers, even though they dont travel anywhere and stay in this goddam town all their lives. But if i meet people not form round here then to them pikeys means common people, the kind u see on trisha every morning and the kind scubaboy descirbes. Yes, they are everywere...

I think it was John Major that said something along the lines of "New age travellers? Not in this age. Not in ANY age" They dodge tax, drive dangerous vehicles without tests or insurance and claim to be persecuted so probably get a wad of benefits. There used to be a huge problem in Newark as the large numbers bought crime and violence and litter. Police can't do anything. Drives me mad!
