What does 'shovers and makers'mean in Dublin's young shovers and makers.?

The original phrase was 'movers and shakers'. This was a reference to powerful people who got things done by moving things/people along and shaking systems up generally to create whole new ways of operating.

The transfer of the opening letters - a sort of Spoonerism - presumably refers to those people in Dublin or wherever who are 'on the make' and try to get ahead by shoving others out of the way.
