Hastings

I was just wondering whether anyone remembers Hastings in the 1940's and 1950's, my grandad used to have 'The Little Sweet' shop in Hastings and I keep promising myself a visit to see Hastings? Any news anyone has about this area would be very interesting.

We had one of the brick built chalets for many years and I remember happy childhood days there. For those who had the chalets they provided a long sacking carpet for us to walk over the stones to get into the sea, and we all beat a hasty retreat when they used to empty the raw sewage into the sea! I remember the Holiday Camp where we used to walk and get ice cream ... and the area called Bohemia I think, and also a house called The Piece of Cheese. I had my ears pierced secretly there just near Plummers and my grandmother waited nervously downstairs saying that my mother would be furious and that she was worried I was going to be abducted as a white slave girl.
