Do you need an Adapter for certain memory cards?

I am considering buying a new Photo Printer, possibly either the Canon MP600 or Epson RX560 All in One.
But after reading several reviews it appears that neither support xD memory cards...
you are unable to insert these memory cards directly into the necessary slots (unlike the larger cards) and they require you to buy a separate adapter of some sort....has anyone any experience of this ????
Why are some cards more difficult to read?

Thanks in advance

Hi kayso.Good idea to purchase a photo printer and I find mine very useful .It is a Lexmark P915 and produces excellent quality photos .There are 3 card slots though i cant tell what card as I cant find my booklet at present. It of course lets you choose paper size too.
If I find the booklet I will let you know which cards it takes.Sorry I cant be of more use at present.
Found it !!!
Says this list for the card reading capability slots......
Compact Flash Types 1 and 2.
Smart Media,Memory Stick,Secure Digital (SD),
Multimedia Card,XD Picture Card,MicroDrive.and Memory Stick Pro.
Try Google with 'xd adaptor' eg.

Might be best to look for an SD version?

Simple, xD never was as popular as SD and Smartmedia!
PS. Kayso, just found out that my Epson RX640 all-in-one takes xD cards, but it's quite expensive. Check the spec of the RX560 carefully to see if it can do xD cards (look on the Internet for the manual if the spec doesn't tell you).
Hi I have an Epson CX6600 - 3 in one - Scanner/Printer/Copier and it takes the XD card in the front Card reader sockets - amongst other cards.
