Can any one please tell me what Woolwich is like? Should it be avoided at all costs, are ther nicer areas than others to live in? What are the schools like? Or perhaps a good website to refer to.
Having been brought up in Charlton, Woolwich is Chalrton's bigger uglier sister - it is a crap hole of the highest order, absolutely heaving with pikeys/chavs.
It also has the highest percentage of ugly women in the country - with the possible exception of Dartford.
Seriously, avoid at all costs - it really is a very very horrible place.
I was born at the British Hospital for Mothers and Babies in Woolwich (long since demolished). Nuff said!!
PS The first MacDonalds in the UK opened in Powis Street, Woolwich in 1975. My Dad, who was Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Greenwich at the time, opened it....and never ate a burger again!!
Its a toilet - if you cross Plumstead Common away from Woolwich you are ok (same postcode) towards Welling not the Plumstead station side which leads to Woolwich itself - is an absolute dump. SE18 covers Woolwich to Plumstead Common to Welling so dont go by post code if you look on the net but by what side of the common it is - you will know by the price as well probably. That side is really nice and has some good property I have lived there for a year and have had absolutely no problem at all I love it.
