Any reviews on getting married at Gretna Green

Can anyone give me any feedback regarding getting married at Gretna Green?? I am thinking about it as we want the white wedding thing but as inexpensively as possible whilst still ensuring the day is special. I have been married before but its my partners first wedding.

I attended a wedding there last year and lovely it was too..however I don't think it was any different to a register office, and probably more expensive!
There were still couples coming out as we were going in.
The couple we saw get married had their ceremony over the anvil, but I think there are several areas to marry there ~ including a little chapel.

Don't be confused between Gretna and Gretna Green. Gretna has a registry office opposite a row of shops, the place itself is modern and informal.
Gretna green has the marriage shop and also the blacksmith's shop, the latter has lots of weddings at peak times, my advice would be midweek if you can. Also some of the local hotels are also geared up for weddings...Gretna Hall Hotel etc. There is a really nice hotel on the way into gretna, has lovely gardens for pics, can't remember the name but I'll look if ur interested.
I pass all of these every day as I live nearby, it's not everyones cup of tea but the area is well served by car hire, horse hire, bakers, florists and photographers.
I hope this helps
