White light in photos

A friend of mine went to her friends wedding at the weekend and today has seen the photos another friend took. In all the photos, the bride has a white light around her and in one photo, she is even blurred with just the white light there. The photos were taken from different angles and within diffrent locations at the venue yet the result is the same in all of them. No one else in any of the photos has any lights around them and never appear blurred.
Has anyone got any idea what has caused this or what it means.

A trick of the light, reflecting off the white dress can be the only explanation.
Maybe if you post this on another topic and let the photographers have a look, (Science, How It Works, Hobbies & Interests), then you will get a proper technical explanation.
I guess you posted it here because you were thinking of some supernatural aura around the bride being picked up.
I understand that there is such a thing as Kirlian photography, using special equipment, (pioneered in Russia I believe), that claims to be able to photograph an energy field or aura around a subject, the shape, colour and brightness of which is supposed to be an indicator of good health and wellbeing.
I am not, I'm afraid, able to confirm this with any degree of accuracy, but it's something you might want to look into once you have ruled out faulty equipment.

Thanks for your answer Theland. I wasnt really sure which catergory to post it in but thought I would try here first. I wasnt thinking of it being an aura, more of "something" else being there.
As for demons, it was just a friend taking her own pics for herself so no charging involved! lol

I�ve always found them fascinating. Whilst I�m not convinced of their paranormal or spiritual connection, I�m always open to thought. However, I will say I have a large number of photos that very clearly have small orbs of different colour light. Years ago I simply discarded the photos, believing I had done lousy job cleaning my lenses. But over the past ten years I�ve paid closer attention to where and when these orbs appear.

It�s interesting to me that yours occurred at a wedding. Last year I attended a Chinese wedding. One of my friends had taken a number of photos of the bride and groom. When he had them processed he was disappointed. He showed me the photos. Without doubt, there were numerous small orbs of different colours surrounding the entire family.

I suppose as a consequence of my profession, I tend to have an inordinate amount of church and cemetery photos. Within the cemetery is where I have the largest number of photos where orbs appear. As I look at them, the majority of the orbs are blue or purple. However, there are numerous orange and white ones as well. I�ve used both digital cameras and film based cameras � anything from a Nikon F80 up to a Mamiya RB67 professional series. Through each of them the imagery recreates itself, reflecting these orbs. Although not intentionally, I�ve taken the photos at different times of day and seasons.

I�ve also had similar experiences in the studio. However, those times are far less than outdoors.

From my technical photographic friends I receive often conflicting answers. Dust, midges, moisture in the air, prism anomalies within the camera, etc. are some of the explanations.

Thank you Fr Bill. I havent seen the photos for myself yet as the person who took them is away, but I will see them when she gets back. They have just been described to me by someone who has seen them. It is not thought to be caused by the light/windows/flash as they have been taken at different times of the day/night and in different locations of the venue so the surroundings are different in different photos.

Sorry beanmistress, didnt mean to miss you out. I can understand why you said that as it is possible. But it doesnt explain why the bride is blurred in one photo and nothing else is, including the people in the photo with her.

Sounds spooky but maybe it was just a case of them using the flash with a faster film speed that works better in places where there is less light, it would certainly explain some of the photographs you described....

Did anyone else take photographs from a different camera and did they get the sam results?

Was the bride in white?
Dirt on the camera lens, such as a smear from a fingerprint, could cause diffusion on the image which would be far more obvious on a bright white subject than on any other.

If it was a digital camera then the poor light mode could have been on then it would have magnified the brighter light reflected off the wedding dress and made it even brighter.

Interment: There�s certainly no need to apologise to me. I�m quite familiar with the anomalies and as I shared in the thread, I too, have tried different ways to correct this.

We have a show that runs on one of the more obscure channels called �Most Haunted� or something like that. Personally, I find the show to be deplorable, especially when they can take the act of a gnat flying by and turning it into some sort of �sign.� The first time I saw part of the show I howled with laughter. The next time I saw it, I was visiting someone�s home and I recall just chewing the inside of my mouth � thinking what dribble there is on telly.

But the technical anomalies that occur under varying conditions are indeed interesting. I�ll have a browse through some photos later in the day and see if I can find some examples.
