True that the SturmAbteilung (SA) also known as the 'Brown Shirts' had their fair share of tailgunners. They were mostly career criminals recruited from prisons all over Germany. The leader of the SA (the fat bald bloke with the little moustach in many photos of the SA) was found in bed with his driver (male) by Hitler. Hitler was non too impressed and disposed of both. Not long after Hitler ordered Himmler and his black uniformed SS to get rid of the SA which they did with typical German efficiency in 'The Night of the Long Knives.'
One of the six Mitford sisters (a family of English aristocrats who had married into the Churchill and Macmillan dynasties) declared her love for Hitler then shot herself in the head when he spurned her advances. Look up Unity Valkyrie Mitford on Wikipedia....makes for interesting reading.

How did Cliff fall into all this ?
No Hitler was NOT a gay icon. Gays were put into concentration camps - pink triangle and all that.
It apparently was a capital offence in the SS and then that was suppressed as they didnt want anyone to know it was an issue.
OK Streicher was gay but erm it didnt last.
