Models banned from Madrid fashion week for being too skinny
6 Answers
Three models have been banned from appearing in Madrid's fashion week because they are too thin. Their body mass index was lower than 18. A BMI between 18 and 25 is considered healthy. The girls who have been banned have BMIs of 16 which probably means extreme skinniness, even the girls might be in good health, their appearance looks too skinny. What do you think? Could this be the start of some good changes that see fewer anorexic-looking women parading down catwalks?

I think the models should be at least a size 10, with other sizes also incorporated. When they are trying to stop young girls from idolizing the skinny models on catwalks and magazines surely there should be more realistic women on / in them

god i hope so. my friend persued a career in fashion and went from an english size 10 to a size 00 in the space of 3 months. she has finally got herself back on track but the sick thing is people were telling her she still needed to be thinner! models should be an image of perfection and im sure perfection isnt dying of anorexia with a tube in your face at the age of 20.
I think it's weird that they use ultra-skinny girls even when that does nothing for the clothes. There are some clothes where you do need to be very slim to wear them (e.g. skinny jeans), but other clothes do need curves. I went to a fashon show for evening wear last year and the models made the dresses look awful. Many of the dresses were gaping at the front because the models had no bosoms and some of their hipbones were sticking through the fabric of the silk dresses which is not a good look! They were beautiful women, but they looked like little girls trying on their mum's dresses!
