Pronunciation of Garfunkel
5 Answers
What is the correct way to pronounce Garfunkel (as in Art Garfunkel)? I put more emphasis on the "funk". My Swedish husband laughs his pants off everytime I say the name. He says the emphasis should be on the "Gar" with hardly any emphasis on the "funkel"?

a Picasso or a garFUNKLE
in If I had a Million Dollars...so you're not on your own RevShirl...tho this is possibly just cos it fits the tune better. I probably put the emphasis on Gar a bit myself, but hey...I'm sure the way your beloved hubby pronounces some words gives you a giggle too eh??
Thanks for all your comments. I was out of town (here in Sweden) for a few days. We managed to see the comment from saffstar before we left and my husband was gloating like mad. Imagine my delight to come home to more comments. I guess people from different places pronounce Garfunkel differently. I am from Scotland (just lived in Sweden for a couple of years) and I think a lot of Scots pronounce the "funk" more.
