It doesn't exist - because that would be in wales
bristol is like 40mins away. that's got nice areas
have friends in newport and occasionally go to Caerleon(?) for an evening. It's worth checking out - small, not too far from Cardiff, and plenty of pubs.
Chepstow,Monmouth,Cwmbran,Newport and Cariff itself. But renting in Cardiff is very expensive due to the influx of people wanting to live near the Millenium Stadium and Cardiff Bay.I am Welsh, born and bred and proud of it Undercovers!!
Caerleon's pretty quiet. There's a lot going on in Newport but the town centre does fill up with Chavs. Monmouth's nice and so is Caerphilly. What about Pontypridd? Biggish town, not too far from Cardiff, with good transport links.
Caerphilly has it all! Only 20 mins by car, 15 mins by train. Your social life could be split between Caerphilly & Cardiff. Come and visit (I don't work for the Welsh Tourist board either!)
I live in Barry - about 10 miles from Cardiff. It's supposed to be up and coming - there's a gorgeous beach, (although the resort itself needs a bit of a boost) and the dockside is being developed - houses, flats, new Argos, new Morrisons supermarket, new Focus DIY store. Rebuilding the town square. Some good pubs with nice food in the countryside around (Vale of Glamorgan).
I've only been to Barry once and will never return. My car was broken into and 2k worth of photo/video equipment stolen including the only record of my son's graduation. Some welcome!
Sorry to hear about your welcom to Barry Toffee. But that could have happened anywhere. You can hardly blame the whole town.
I 2nd that,as a fellow South Walien.Crime is everywhere these days Toffee. My inlaws had their car broken into while on holiday in Weymouth.
