SIA Licence refused?
5 Answers
Hi guys,
I was convicted of common assault in 2003 which resulted in community services then i received a deferred 3mths conditional caution 4 possess class c drug and a conditional caution (completed) 4 criminal damage in 2007. Ive been employed 4 nearly 2yrs now by the same company who have paid 4 my SIA licence, i realised that my 1st conviction would be on my CRB and was honest on my application. I didnt know that cautions were going 2 b on my CRB and failed to mention them! Now ive been refused an SIA licence and worried that my boss will find out about my cautions, am i in my right not 2 disclose my cautions?

I am sorry you see cautions as a 'slap on the wrist' - they are somewhat more serious than that.
With your attitude perhaps you are in the wrong job.
It is pointless appealing.

I had my badge refused due to a caution which happened about 4 years before applying to the sia , I did tell them in my application because i didn't know if it showed up on the checks. Anyway i appealed and did win, I wrote a letter myself explaining the caution and about how i had change my life for the better after 1 silly mistake and my boss also wrote me letter too. Best way is to be up front about it all and come clean with your boss, Not sure if it would be worth appealing tho as your last was only 2007!
