i have had to have time off during my pregnancy. i have given in sick notes from my doctor can anyone tell me if i get paid statutory sick pay??? as i have read somewhere that if you are pregnant you do not get it. i no that if i have been with the company i work for for 1 year or more i get company sick pay but i am not sure when i started....so if i have been there less than a year am i still entitled to statutory sick pay??
hiya, you will have to dig out your contract and have a look, where i work they do hire agency and if i remember rightly with sick, you had to be off for longer then 3 days then you started getting sick pay but only upto 2 weeks i think, very strange and not very good, but something is better then nothing,
you will have to claim through your place of work tho.
I would have thought that you would be entitled to the same sickness pay as a non-pregnant employee, at least you should be no worse off. I think if you are off with a pregnancy related illness in the last few (4?) weeks before you start your maternity leave your employer can start your maternity leave early.
Check with your HR department, they will be able to tell you for sure.
Hi Isharp, How far on are you? Cause Asteroid is right if you are nearing the end your employer can ask you to start maternity leave apart from that you are intitled to the same sick pay as any other employee anything less would be discrimination. You should at the very least get stat. I was off for the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy ( i had been there more than one year less than two) and my boss bent over backwards for me as she knew when it comes to being pregnant you hold the cards legally. Good luck.
im 32 weeks pregnant and my maternity starts on 21st this month, my workplace have accepted my sick notes so far, i will be getting another one monday that hopefully will last till 21st as my midwife recommended to keep going back for sick notes until my maternity starts
