Southernmost in the continental US would be Key West, Florida.

There is a contradiction in the question. The southernmost towen in the USA (according to my atlas) is Naalehu in Hawaii, which is about 4000 miles away from Cuba. Key West is indeed the nearest town to Cuba in the USA, but it is not the southernmost.
