HELP. I am going to a 40th birthday party and the theme is " what you were wearing when the ship went down" I would like something really outragous, any ideas.

A towel worn like a sarong, and your hair tied up with a ribbon, as if you were having a shower when the ship went down. You could wear flip-flops to save your feet. But make sure you have a strapless bra and min-briefs under the towel to save any embarrassment when you've had a drink or two.

NO no. You have to be dressed in full Evening Dress (long) with tiara, fur (fake) stole, long cigarette holder and long gloves. Ah la Titanic.

My mum was in labour with me on the 6/3/1987 listening to the reports of the herld of free enterprise sinking!

So you could either go starkers, as me, or in a hospital gown and say you are dressed as some random lass of the internets mum!

Esp if going with someone of the opposite sex then you could go in a "caught in the act" kinda thing, bed hair, lipstick smudges on him etc...

You could go wrapped in a bed sheets (or a man's shirt etc...) with him in a ladies dressing gown.
