Golden Wedding
12 Answers
My brother and his wife celebrate their Golden Wedding in August.
They have a very nice home, full of 'things' and won't need more ornaments etc.
They have a caravan, and use it regularly.
A garden of half an acre.. and while not anywhere near 'rich', are comfortably off.
So what can we get them for an anniversary gift?
They gave us a generous cheque for ours which we put away, and are going to use to buy some garden furniture when we move to our 'new' home.. we have only had a back yard for the last 30 odd years!
So I don't particularly want to give them a cheque in turn.
I know there is a Golden Wedding rose, but the Golden Celebration is a much better one, so we'll get one of those anyway, but are stuck for something really original.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me have them.
Thanks in advance.

I received one of these some years ago.........
https://www.universal-gifts.com/shop/cengine/shop/home2.html?vlsrc=gaw&gclid=CLGogYTLxpkCFQquGgodvkdDuw
On balance it is probably the nicest gift I have ever received.......or ever will receive.
Admittedly, it is only a little bit of fun................but whereever I am in the world, I can see it ! :o)

If you don't want to match them for why don't you make them a book of vouchers of things that you will do for them. For example you can offer to mow their lawn, make them a cake (or afternoon tea for them and some friends while you act as butler/waitress), take them to a local house/garden etc.
Alternatively 50 small practical gifts - packet of nice tea bags, packet of seeds, smelly soaps etc.
I think when people have everything spending time with them is a nice gesture.
Alternatively ask them if they want you to make a donation in their name to their favourite charity.
Hope this gives you food for thought.

By the time people have been married for 50 years, they have most things they want. A couple of years ago when friends of ours celebrated their 50th, we bought them two apppropriate rose bushes and then rather than give them a gift to clutter up their home and something they probably wouldn't want - for 30 we 'bought' them a square foot of land in the wilds of Scotland and it came with the title Laird and Lady........ They received a certificate and map showing where their piece of land was - don't know if they've ever visited it. This was a suggestion by someone on the Answerbank incidentally.
My parents celebrated their golden anniversary last year and we made them a dvd of memories. We satarted from when they were 'courting' right through to present day including family, holidays, celebrations etc. and added their favourite or suitable music to it. if you don't know anyone who could do this for you a photo album along the same lines is just as good. My parents loved it and are still showing it to all their friends
