Where exactly is the Southernmost point of Europe? Half the Web sites say in Spain near Gibraltar and the rest a place in Greece.

I'm fairly sure it's Spain.  There should be a map somewhere if you google.
If it's mainland you are after, Spain wins. According to my atlas, Tarifa, just to the west of Gib. is bang on 36degrees. Greece apparently has a lighthouse at Akrotirion Tainaron which is on approx 36degrees20minutes. Greece owns some islands, notably Crete and Rhodes which stretch south of 35 degrees, but I don't imagine you want to count them.
