Needs to find alternative relational antonyms instead of Parent and Child
14 Answers
Help please - Struggling to find an alternative to Parent and Child - Our Helpdesk software at work uses Parent and Child to refer to related helpdesk issues, but we have a customer who doesn't like the terminology, so we're trying to come up with an alternative set of Antonyms that mean the same thing as Parent Case and Child Case but don't use the words "Parent" and "Child" - any suggestions would be gratefully received (one of the guys here suggested Morecambe and Wise!!! - so you can see why we're struggling!)

You, I take it, represent the authority facet in this situation. How about you tell this customer that the MAJORITY of the vote has gone to 'Parent and Child ' terminology and it is up to them to conform to the popular decision ,not the other way round'. By the way an antonym suggests the opposite I think you may have been looking for synonyms......
What on earth is the matter with parent and child for goodness sake! or if the person in charge of the child is not the parent then adult and child since that describes exactly what they are doesn't it ? How about carer (parent) and cared for (child) or junior person and senior person, or if they don't like to imply that one has more authority than the other -( some people are VERY picky) - then how about younger person and older person. I feel really sorry for you for having to waste time on finding alternative terms to please people who make such idiotic demands. Good Luck!
