My first attempt - so maybe it's been covered previously.

I'm intrigued by the reporting a few years ago that Michael Howard had had a 'close encounters of the third kind'  experience outside his home ( hence the Anne Widdicombe comment that there was ' something of the night' about him?) I've not been able to trace any subsequent reportage via the Internet?

Anybody with any knowledge?
