Ok. I've put a few posts here, read a few and answered a few but am still slightly baffled by Answer Bank.
Is this considered *more* than just a general questionbank? ie. is there a general over-riding social scene here?
Is there an average agegroup/over riding political/spiritual ethos and if so, what is it? Is this a place where misfits (like me) can feel free to extemporise ? :-)
Are new people 'noticed' and noticed more when they post regularly and put through some sort of acceptance ritual, and if so, what are the criteria?

Mustardmit... 'but am still slightly baffled by Answer Bank'

You and me both ;-) This site has undertaken changes recently hence the reason for the duo of avatars that we're all still blessed with. (ED and Spare ED)

There is no criteria, (we learn opinions and attitudes) unless you want to join in the CB banter... in which case you will have to find a sensible poster (good luck) I jest of course most are friendly ;-)

as for your ritual, don't listen to em' on the weekend.

Welcome BTW... hope you have the answers you wanted...
To me it is as much or as little as you want it to be for you. I like to think of it as a "help, does anyone anyone know how, what, where, why or can you …" [etc].

It's a bit like life, you'll get good, bad and indifferent advice, some answers that will irk you, some will make you laugh or smile, some you might not understand. As long as you don't take it too seriously. Oh and Merry Christmas!

Thanks KID (wow do I feel uncomfortable not using someone's real name !)
Ok, so it's a (within reason) "free-for-all" - fairynuff.

By "CB" do you mean ChatterBook? This reminds me SOOO much of my days with CB radio -even the initials are the same! I've made that comparison in other forums and suspected it here, I'll try to play the game but I'm not very good at 'virtual persona' politics -I'll probably dip in and out and expect to be held at arm's length.

10 10 till we do it again !

MM :-)
Sorry my bad on using CB, (short for ChatterBank) which is basically the forum for free chat about anything. not quite citezenband, 'rubberduck this is charlie tango, coming through zzzzzz phizzz zzzzzz hizzzzz'... etc..

but they were better responses sometimes as to what to expect on here... hizzzz

You can post wherever you wish, is there a politics section.....? wow...!!! (I can't see it) must be in news or something.... each section has their own genii (in most) and if you can't do puzzle why cheat.....? come on here!

they'll be loads on today ;-)
Personally I have very little idea of the ages of users here and care very little. Many I have no idea of their sex and no doubt the wrong idea on some. It doesn't matter.

I don't think there is an overriding theme. Many only visit a few sections and would be unknown to those from other categories. I like to discuss philosophical values. I love the forthright opinions and passionate debate in the Society and Culture section. Nothing I enjoy more than a well presented case for a belief regardless of the particular leaning. But then those who present rubbish arguments can to expect them to be mercilessly shot down.

Some people try to use it as a soapbox but like any good soapbox someone else will get a turn. I have often been motivated to take a stand myself though I will rarely bring my own box.

Like some others I am a refugee originally from KnowPost. Those of us who remember that site fondly will know that AB is a mere shadow of its glory. There were so many genuine certified awsome posts on that site. Heyteach was a legend among many.
