grey hair

my hair is going grey at the temples. i dye it blonde and have to straighten it. ive noticed that the grey hair dyed blonde looks different to the rest of my hair, really coarse, very frizzy and it doesnt really straighten. do you think this is because its grey hair that has been dyed or that its just overprocessed or that the heat has damaged it. funny how its not happened anywhere else on my head. do i face the prospect of all my hair being like this when i turn grey all over? i use nice and easy by the way to dye my hair which caters for grey coverage.

I gave up trying to colour it in my late 30s and it is now totally grey/white (I'm now 55). However mine has never been coarse, in fact it's exactly the same as it ever was - quite fine but thick and I've never had it treated in a salon. So it's not all doom and gloom, the bits at the side might not be an indication of what it will turn out like over all.
My mum is a beautiful white colour, I am 31 and dread the thought of having to colour mine for the rest of my life. I think I will stop colouring it in the next few years as I do love my mum's hair and i hope I will have the same shade of grey. The few grey hairs that I have are white so i will be happy. I don't think for a minute a person looks old with grey hair. Your skin tone changes as you age and anyone with dark dyed hair looks terrible.
My grey hair (very little of it at the moment) is still the same texture as the rest of my hair. I have pale blonde highlights which blend in with the grey. However, I have noticed that where the highlights are sometimes put on the grey hairs the grey hair can get out of condition and can get frizzy. My late mother's hair was a beautiful colour and very soft and shiny.
I would research some more before trying it again. Different products suit different hair. Accept the change and work with whatever you have. You don't really have any choice.
My wife is going salt and pepper grey so she tried the blonde look. The dark hair goes a beautiful pale golden colour while the grey turns to a gorgous silver. Around the temples is incredible.
It is absolutely stunning in a short hair stlye just after the dark roots appear.

It's a shame that for women, grey hair is (largely) seen as ageing, but for men, it is distinguished. Just look at Mark Harmon (yes please!), Richard Gere, George Clooney. So, my advice is, try and just let it grow down if you can bear to. When my grey first came thru, it looked like I had a very short paintbrush stuck to my parting, sticking straight up (awful), but after plucking for several months and just intensifying it, I braved it and now have two quite nice silvery streaks, and a thin greyish fringe, which does look a bit strange as the rest of my hair is a light brown! people do nitice it, but I've quite grown to like it. if you really can't bear it a good hairdresser will advise, as most commerical products don't cover grey for long. good luck in whatever you do!! :)
