In 'real' life I would say the cheater is to blame but in situations like this they're as bad as each other. Although you must be able to understand how flattered they must have felt. Especially at that age.

I used to work as a mentor to 16 year old girls as part of my job. They were street wise kids, bt certainly had their heads screwed on and would have been just as shocked and disgusted at these girls (probably more so) than I am.
