where can I get who's who on the web

Well, it certainly isn't the website called "Who's Who Online", which doesn't even have entries on the US President or UK Prime Minister. I don't think the well known publication "Who's Who" is free online - for obvious commercial reasons - but http://www.refdesk.com/factbiog.html has links to a number of websites with biographical details of notables.

But why isn't it free on-line? Several other books which can be located at a nearby library anyway (one example is Brewer's Phrase and Fable) are.
