This may perhaps belong in the science category but why is it that people from different parts of the world have such diverse distinguishing features? In particular The Orient where everyone has a similar look around the eyes and facial bone structure.

I've wondered how certain races look alike as well, but don't have an explanation for it. Hope another ABer has the answer.

But its uncanny how in some countries you find a blend of different people all of the same race but look different-some look Indian, others look Chinese , some African, some Mediterranean. There's no stereotype.

HI.

I can not give you an exact explanation, but I think it has something to do with isolated genepools. By this I mean that the term race makes no sense, since all are humans but with different features. This comes from people being from different parts of the world that are  more or less seperated from other parts  and the people in these genepools have evolved features that responds to the climate etc.

An example of a isolated genepool could, for an example, be that 100 redheads were isolated on a island, and you came to visit a long time after the isolation, the majority of "redhead genes" would result in a redheaded people.

hope it makes sense (and that I'm right :-) )
