I notice that Camilla's maiden name is Shand, and Diana's mother was Lady Shand-Kydd. I know Diana's mum re-married but are the Shand-Kydds related to the Shands?

I have been wondering myself for ages but cannot find anything.  I found this family tree for Camilla: http://members.aol.com/eurostamm/camilla.html

It shows that she is distantly related to Charles, Diana, Madonna and Celine Dion.  But there's no trace of any Shand marrying a Kydd in the family history.  However, I am not easily defeated.  Other minor points thrown up in my search:  Kydd was also spelt Kydde.  The Shand-Kydd at one time owned property in the village of Grove, Buckinghamshire.  Diana's mother was the Hon. Mrs Shand-Kydd. (Well, it's a start).

Hi, I did say I would keep looking... Well I have come across a thread in a forum:  http://forums.rbhq.net/showthread.php?p=74544

(Royal Blue Forums / Royal Houses / Great Britain / The Shand family name)

one of the messages claims, convincingly, that there is no relation.
