Nottingham - Relocation, relocation, relocation

My gf and I are looking to move to the Nottingham in the near future.  Does anyone on AB live there?

We are a young professional couple who would like to move to a nice area where we can live a little and bring up a young family.  We will be looking for a semi-lively villagey/town type home with pub + couple of shops etc, but with a vibrant feel and easy access to the city centre for work and nightlife & shopping.  Can anyone recommend a suitable location in or around Notts where we can start to look for a house?  (and I don't mean Rightmove smart people)

I live in Ruddington. Small Village south of the city. In the catchment area for good schools. Several pubs and small village shops. Go further out and it gets a bit rural. I recomend it
