I usually have people at work (in their 20s) asking if i would come out with them at the weekend and it is i guess more out of politeness than any wish to spend their night outs with me. I am in my late 30s and have to explain why i have been there and done that and going out does not appeal to me any more. In my university days i was out in the streets of Belfast every thu/fri/sat and the occasional other weekday. I did for 10 years of my life after Uni. The charm wears thin. I now have a family, mortgage to pay, children to put thru private school (yeah why should i give my money to the brewery) and a career to think of in other words money to earn. there is a time and place for everything...I had a great time going out in the weekends. Now i have a great time staying in with a glass of wine and planning my expensive holidays. There is no sight worse than a middle aged man on the dance floor in a poxy club believe me. And as for new years eve a majority of people dress up to go and do what they have done every other week in their lives!!!

I agree with Dom Tuk.(As we're roughly the same age and I was there 3 times I may have been in the same bars in Belfast as Dom!) I'm also fed up of wading through a bar full of 16-20 year olds, stood 5 deep at the bar with a �20 note in their hands asking for 4 bottles of WKD. It takes longer than usual to attract the attention of and order your drinks from the bar person because they are unable to hear you above the ridiculously loud 'music'.
At the end of the evenings entertainment one has to queue for a taxi fo an hour and a half whilst the young ladies and gentleman argue and vomit all over the pavement.
Why would I want to put up with that sh*te every Friday and Saturday night when I've got a mortgage, two children, 2 cars and a wife who likes to shop for clothes in Next and Monsoon(among others) on an unfashionably frequent basis?
When we do go out (about twice per year, when babysitting and mortgage/bills/clothes for kids budgets allows etc) we go to pubs that sell real beer, then on to a music venue that plays songs with a real tune and not that thump thump stuff. And have you noticed what the girls these days wear? Not that staying in is much fun, what happened to all the variety on telly? It's all swearing and reality these days? You used to be able to leave your back door open etc etc...........and it will happen to you too KittyGlitter. If, when you are in your thirties, you do still frequent the same bars that you do now you will either be breathing in (if you are male) or the subject of a 'grab a granny raid' if you are female. See you down at B&Q in a few years...
Kittyglitter, its true what the others said, when you are a teenager or in your twenties, its likely you may meet someone suitable at a pub or nightclub, but if you are in your 30's and looking, you are not likely to find any eligible men in those places. Like Icemansav said, you are more likely to find a suitable man at B&Q! Or have friends introduce you to someone...
