Are there any other Geordies on here who live in other parts of the UK?
I am Geordie lass and live in the south of the UK. Some people can't understand my accent down here.

Geordies live everywhere, hinny. South Wales has its share (I'm one) and find that the locals are just as friendly as any Durham/Sunderland/Newcastle denizen.
Don't worry about your accent, Pet; most people like it. so long as you don't become a 'professional Geordie' by laying it on too broadly. Gan canny, lass....

My dad was a Co Durham man and I remember going from our home - I was born/raised in Bucks - to see relatives in the Hartlepool area. I was aged about 8 then and had no problems with understanding as I suppose I had got used to my dads accent.
A couple of years later my elder sister got married and they came down to Bucks and as far as I was concerned they were speaking French - I had trouble with even two word sentences!!!!
Later when my then future wife - from East London - met my dad she just nodded and had to admit, to him too, that she couldnt understand him

I say we fence 'em in, perhaps on a little island just of the coast of Geordieland, and position guards every so often around the perimeter fence just incase some try to make a run (or may be swim) for freedom to t'other parts of the country. Heaven forbid they breed with us normal folk.
