The Prince of Wales’s private income comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, which provided him £17m last financial year.
Taxpayers fund official expenses via Grants-in-Aid for such things as official travel, maintenance of official residences, etc. and Government departments cover costs for security and overseas tours etc., none of which counts as personal income.
Charles get's most of his income from the Duchy of Cornwall, not the civil list. He pays far more tax than he gets from the civil list. Ditto the Queen. Still don't let the facts get in the way of anti monarchy tripe eh?
rubbish molly, the Duchy of Cornwall is stinking rich, it's not the taxman sorting out Charles' money.
It was said months back that most of the cost is being met privately.
as a girlie...i'm just interested in the dress, romance and princessyness of it all! but please don't tell anyone else...it would ruin my reputation. regardless of who he married - we would still end up paying...and people should really have naturally complained when he was born. the monarchy IS a part of britain and likely to stay for some time to come. so..put up or shut up! if you really want to live in a republic and are a decent upstanding, working briton (as you probably think you are)...go and live in nz or somewhere - better pay, quality of life, and no royals - which you are so fond of moaning about. the class system really is too ingrained in the society currently to do anything about it at the mo.....................pointless discussion and pixels if you arsk me. think of the dresssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!! x
I read figures somewhere on how much (estimated) revenue the royal wedding will being in via tourism, trade etc. It far outweighs any cost to the taxpayer. There are plenty of other areas whereby the government could save tax!
If you divide the total publicly funded part of the costs by the number of UK taxpayer it will be a very small amount each. An absolute bargain to pay for national stability and many millions from export potential.
The Queen may be old, but never stupid. HRH has realised all along the way the William will make a much better and popular King than his father.
I've bought a lovely chins limited edition trinket dish with some of the procedes going to specific charities chosen by the Royal couple. I sent his mum and dad a wedding card, actually, I was 8 months pregnant at the time, think in shall avoid jinxing this one and not send them one
The royal family spend far more than they bring in through tourism - they are such an outdated idea and behave appallingly. Anyone can see this current wedding has been totally managed - they couldn't risk any more embarrassments. Give it about 10 years
