Half Mast

On Monday I noticed a C of E church with it's flag (Union Jack) half mast ...... is this simply becuase it's holy week or might itbe for something else - was in Penkridge in Staffordshire if that helps. TIA.

At cadets we lower the ensign to half mast if it happens that we're there on november the 11th, or the was the time a sea cadet had passed away so we lowered it during the time between his passing and funeral.
