after watching around 5 minutes of the wedding yesterday i realised the car that was on tv had no number plates and no tax disc!!!
does anyone know why this is as i believe they shouldn't be exempt from these legal requirements. I've had a few arguments about this with different people yesterday and some disagree saying its royal family, but most people agree with my argument about the car shouldn't have been on the road...Why should the royals be ab;e to just break the road laws of the country when they feel the need to.

oh take a chill pill....
It is only the Queen's car which is exempt, no other royal.
She's the Queen, she can. We all know it's her, it's not like she's going to do doughnuts or hoot all the way down the Mall.
the docs already posted about this yesterday you are a day to late
Does the Queen's car have no tax disc as well as no number plates? By the way all Army vehicles do not have any tax discs either, do they?
Anyone mentioned about the lack of seat belts yet? My five year old daughter thought it was really off that they weren't wearing any.
It's good that she noticed sherrardk, shows some good sense :c)

As uninterested in all the pomp as I was yesterday, I think even I could let this one slide.
On a similar subject, I once had my foot driven over by prince charles's car, and he didn't stop to apologise. just thought I'd share, not that interesting I know.....

i feel that queen or no queen she should still have to follow the same rules as everyone else, i missed the seat belt thing, but i feel as queen and head of the country she should be setting an example to the rest of the country and yesterday wasn't a very good example.

Andycapp, i would have posted yesterday but i wasn't on my laptop which auto logs me in LOL
wilkesneil - she wasn't on the motorway, there was no other car in the vicinity except the one following very slowly behind her. Nothing in the opposite direction. This isn't exactly a standard driving situation. None of them wore seat belts - not necessary, and it would have crushed all the regalia. Exceptional circumstances.
Don't like to tell you this but every day there are thousands of uninsured vehicles driving all over the country, and all quite legally.
Cars have to be taxed and licensed to drive on the Queen's highway. Why should she have to pay to drive on her own highway?
I may be wrong, and if I am someone will tell me, but I believe seatbelts are only compulsory above a certain speed and not drivng slowly up the road waving at the crowd

i believe rules are there for everyone to adhere to, thats all im saying and don't see why she should be exempt from u.k laws..
Because she's the Queen, it's her law.
I thought every minute aspect of the wedding had already been criticised on this site. I was wrong obviously.
Mike - Nice point - lol
Mine wasn't a criticism - just thought it was interesting that my daughter noticed the seat belt thing.
she IS the law ;)
this really can't be a massive issue for you can it wilkesneil? Please tell me this is just idle musing for you?
