whilst i think sometimes these things go to far and end up seeming silly, its important to acknowledge and welcome equality...
the battle of the sexes has been far too one-sided for centuries and its time things changed.
there is nothing wrong with changing some things and just saying chair, or chairperson - its as easy to say.
i dont see the need to change words like manager, because although the 1st 3 letters are man, it doesnt imply the person is a man...
i do think altering certain words such as actor to actress, manager to manageress is pointless and unnecessary...many female actors refuse to use the term actress...
for my industry it is often pointed out when a job ad states - cameraman, or propman or makeup girl or wardrobe mistress...
because although its mainly just that the poster hasnt even considered the terms they have chosen, its really quite wrong to specify gender unless theres a very good reason - especially when there are industry standard equivalemnts to all the above terms that actually are far more commonly used....such as camera op, props, makeup artist, and wardrobe...
