As far as I know, according to most religions, everything we see was created by god and we as people were created in his image. It stands to reason that we are therefore the most important beings on earth.

What would be the scenario if there was another race found on another planet who looked nothing like us but were as self aware and intelligent as us? Would they be inferior to us, much like dogs and cats or would they also be able to get into heaven so long as they believed in our gods?

Sigh....So many to try and convert, so little time :-(
The word 'sod' springs to mind. ;o)
"No man cometh to the Father but by Me'.
Tearing hair - it's simple it just means what it says, there is only one way to Jesus to accept him into your life.

Perhaps god would look different to anyone looking at him. They will see what they wish to see. Thereby we would be in his image but so would a completely different looking alien race also. Like that episode of Red Dwarf.
Red Dwarf! What a lovely thought! It just has to be Kryten - or Holly! :o)
Keyplus, that was a kind thought. If I wanted to read the Koran I could afford to buy one, however since I do not have the patience to wade through christian texts as their convoluted and ambiguous style conveys no real information I will continue to read articles (apart from fiction)written in a less poetic and more rational style.
Sandy... All that I can glean from your biblical quote is that when the bible was written houses where bigger than mansions. Any further deductions would be pushing logic and reasoning into the realm of fairy tales.

I suppose one thing that religion has in its corner is that we haven't got any proof of extra-terrestrial life(ironic) and until then this argument is superfluous. So far it just stands to reason that with billions more planets out there then there must be life, but no proof. If this life were to be found then religion would have to take a back seat in our lives.
Didn't "god" create animals then?
"If this life were to be found then religion would have to take a back seat in our lives."

sigh. you didn't bother to read my link then. religion would see this as a growth area to manipulate.

I read it ankou, that is a christian guys opinion. I'm sure the other religions might have different view. But I know that religions love moving the goalposts as new information becomes available which totally disproves its holdings.
i would rather they did move with the times, who knows, eventually it might even diminish.

Hallelujah.
Do you not often observe that people believe what they want to believe.
//Do you not often observe that people believe what they want to believe.//

In the religious, I observe it constantly.
