At the end of this summer's strawberry crop, I had taken a number of runners off intending to transplant eleswhere next year. At the moment they are in 4" pots on a tray (which has no drainage holes). Every time we have a heavy rain downpour I tilt the tray to empty off excess water.---Would it be O.K. to put the trays in my greenhouse for the winter, keeping an eye on whether they would show signs of drying out; or do they need to stay outside??

Personally I always leave the runners attached to the plant and just poke them into the ground and they take root. Therefore mine are outside all the year round.
get a tray with holes in...and surround the pots with sand keep them somewhere fairly sheltered
