It was great fun when I was little cazzz but nowadays seems to be an excuse for vandalism rather than mischief..........
it's pretty much the ancestor of trick or treat (which is therefore not American as people seem to think). But I've never heard of it down south. We have knife gangs here instead.

Oh right...the worst thing we used to get up to was tying terraced house door knobs together.

It hasn't reached Scotland yet - not that we would ever get up to any mischief anyway. We are all good, law abiding citizens. ;-)
